Quick Update

A very quick update:
  1. I have been moved into Trinity Choir next semester (yay!!)
  2. I will be going on tour with them over spring break (YAY!!! Mom, Dad, we get to talk finances...)
  3. My voice studio is giving a recital on sunday, Nov. 23, at 3pm in the Ruth Taylor Recital Hall if anyone is interested in coming.
  4. I will be registering for the following classes for next semester:
  • Theory 2
  • Orchestra
  • Choir
  • Opera Workshop (we are doing Die Fledermaus, I'm in the chorus)
  • Bassoon and Voice lessons
  • Into to Teaching
  • Argumentation
  • PAD (Principles of Algorithmic Design) 1 (Or Music Cultures of the World, but that will most likely be full of seniors)
That's 18 hours, yikes!

So, exciting stuff! Tonight is the campus-wide Swing Fling, the Bums are hosting it, so I get to help with set up and advertisement and stuff. Tomorrow night VENGA (I don't remember what it stands for) is hosting a salsa night. The new play, Booth, is also opening tonight. They will be playing next weekend too. AND, I am hosting a prospective student (Prospie) tomorrow night. I'm excited. The suite is going to take her out for Thai food, and then she can either go to the play with Ruthie, or Salsa night with me, and then we'll do S'mores...it'll be great fun. I've also started hearing about people from Bowie starting to tell the music department that they are interested in Trinity, like Kim Kost and Jenny Dietz. I'm really excited about this, and I know that Alex Bretoi is interested too.

Here's a good picture of Ruthie when it was her "birthday" at Mamacita's!

Everyone is getting ready for the end of the semester. I am working on two end of the semester projects (one on the Illuminati, which is ....fun researching, and one on swing dancing). My quote today concerns the founder of the Bavarian Illuminati.

"It has been claimed that Dr. Weishaupt was an atheist, a Cabalistic magician, a rationalist, a mystic; a democrat, a socialist, an anarchist, a fascist; a Machiavellian amoralist, an alchemist, a totalitarian and an "enthusiastic philanthropist." Halloween....yay. Several of you have seen the costumes, but here's a picture from wednesday night at the Semeneya ballroom. Some other characters there included the creepy guy who sits next to you on the bus, Hancock, an ostrich jockey, a mime (who stayed in character all night), the very blueberry fairy named Mary, and a bagpiper (who played for us). It was a potluck dinner, and I am proud to say that Nik and I actually concocted something with culinary worth. It was an apple, peach and pear summer pudding. It's true that it didn't look exactly like it did in a picture online, but it tasted good.

Last night a major heist was pulled off. We dumped the dirt out of the big crab aquarium and aquired some sand through means that will remain undisclosed. Hephaestus and Zeus seem to like the new sand a lot though. Heph made himself at home in this larger shell pretty much as soon as we put him in the new crabitat. With the sand and palm trees and smiley face shells, it's like a little crabby pardise now.

That's Zeus in the lightning shell in the upper right corner for those of you who haven't met the crabs yet. They are both sociable now, and done molting (Heph was gone for about a month to molt).
